Tuncay Topçu (1966 - )

Tuncay Topçu was born in Ankara in 1966. He studied at ITU Maritime High School between 1984-1984. Between 1988-1992, he traveled around the world 3 times as a captain on ships. He received his art education at London Guildhall University Putney School of Art between 1994-1996. In 1996, he received the Achievement Award in the "Original Print Branch" at the State Painting and Sculpture Competition. Between 2003 and 2012, he worked on the restoration of old Greek houses.

The Greek house where he currently lives in Izmir was awarded by the Municipality in the essential repair branch for being built in accordance with the original. Between 2010-2018, he curated the "Old House New Art" International Art Symposium, in which he also participated as a participating artist. The artist reflects his empathy with the outside world on canvas in an abstract expressionist manner. Color and line change from moment to moment with the changing rhythm of life and find form in a lyrical expression. The rich use of color is skillfully layered without the danger of muddying, strengthening the visual effect.

The artist, who has held more than 30 solo exhibitions in the USA, England, Germany, Italy, Austria, Greece, China, Iran and Kuwait, has works in national and international institutions and private collections. Tuncay Topcu works as a Pilot Captain in Tekirdağ and continues his artworks in his studio in İzmir.
