Özgür Korkmazgil (1968 -     )

Özgür Korkmazgil was born in 1968 in Mersin. He began painting in his own workshop in 1993. This artist who relates the collective problems of our era in his works, paints fetish objects, ego spaces, people in road bends, huge problems faced by people, and concepts rendered ugly by society, focusing on obesity which is the problem of the century. In the canvases of Korkmazgil, who is trying to build the iconography of today with his paintings, one can see the Mediterranean and his childhood, or traces of history. The artist, who approaches the modern problems of the modern world from a criticizing angle, continues to live and work in İstanbul.
